Fantastic sport at the World Cup Finals looks promising for the World Championship in Herning

Apr 13th 2022

Three of the four disciplines at the ECCO FEI World Championships Herning – Denmark 2022 gave the audience at the World Cup Finals in Leipzig wonderful sport. Jumping, Dressage and Vaulting were a thrilling experience, and the quality of horses and riders promises an extreme high level of competition at Herning2022.

Nerve wrecking Jumping

Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ championship on Sunday at Leipzig was a nail biting experience. Entering the arena as leading rider in the final, McLain Ward (USA) rode in a completely silent arena - rife with tension. Ward had two fences down giving the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ title to Martin Fuchs of Switzerland riding Chaplin.

Jumping at the World Cup finals was extraordinaire and offers great promise for a spectacular Agria FEI World Jumping Championship in Herning come August.

They were dancing in dressage

There’s nothing like a big win on home ground, but there’s also nothing like retiring a superstar horse in front of a wildly enthusiastic crowd, so Saturday’s Freestyle finale had it all when Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl steered Dalera to victory at the FEI Dressage World Cup Final 2022, where the sport said a rousing farewell to Isabell Werth’s great mare, Weihegold OLD. It was Denmark’s Cathrine Dufour who lined up second with her new young star Vamos Amigos while Werth and Weihegold finished third.

With Dressage opening the ECCO FEI World Championships in Herning on the 6. August, the home crowd will be cheering the Danish riders on. At the World Cup Finals Denmark’s Cathrine Dufour entered the podium and her friends on the Danish team Carina Cassøe Krüth/Hiline’s Danciera and Nanna Skodborg Merrald/Atterupgaards Orthilia came 4. and 5. - giving the home crowd at Herning2022 something to dream about.

Blue Hors FEI World Dressage Team Championship Grand Prix Presented by Helgstrand opens the World Championships. 100 riders will be competing in Grand Prix on the 6. and 7. August to settle the World Team Championship title.
At the World Cup Final, the Blue Hors Stud was represented with two horses, Atterupgaards Orthilia ridden by their top-rider Nanna Skodborg Merrald, and Blue Hors Zepter by Blue Hors Zack bred and raised at Blue Hors and ridden by Sweden’s Patrik Kittel - one of the Herning2022 ambassadors.

Nanna was over the moon after the final in Leipzig, not only for her own achievements but also for her teammates: “I'm wildly proud of our result, No. 5 in our first final - it's wild! Orthilia gave everything she could, and I'm just happy to be Danish with results like that.”

Action packed Vaulting - a championship discipline

Vaulting thrilled the audience at the World Cup Finals in Leipzig. Simply described as gymnastics on horseback, Vaulting is a harmonious bond between horse and athlete that creates awe-inspiring acrobatic displays of skill and precision.

The world's best female and male Vaulters, Pas de deux and teams will meet again at the Mustang Corp. FEI World Vaulting Championships in Herning from 6. to 10. August in the impressive concert hall, Boxen.
